Norh Dakota State University (NDSU) and Inwerken have their fingers on the pulse

After five exciting months we did it! The student team from the North Dakota State University and their mentors from Inwerken lead the project „Internet-of-things“ along the path to success!

With lots of commitment the team members have developed a solution to read sensory data via Bluetooth and display it graphically from the SAP Hana Cloud. They use a TI-SensorTag-CC2650-Sensor to acquire data and send them to a BananaPro Microcomputer via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The local pre-processed data are pushed via URL-calls over the internet into the SAP HANA Cloud. This is visualised with a SAPUI5 application – this lets the user have a comprehensive overview over the sensor controlled processes with a display dashboard. The biggest technical challenge is handling the BLE interface, but the problem was cleverly solved with a Python Script.

The joint experience of ups and downs, surprisingly easy communication with language barriers, improvising because of different time zones, wow effects regarding practical developments – this is the human side of the “banana trifle” project in brief. It is nice that the enthusiasm of all team members reflects in the assessment of the project.

Many thanks to all the people involved in the project – the collaboration was a lot of fun.

We want to continue this great cooperation with the NDSU next year.
