Fiori:

The SAP Fiori is a leading edge product of the new SAP application generation. This new user interface is based on the OpenUI5 Javascript library. In addition to many other tasks and functions, the interface should enable working with the SAP system via mobile devices such as tablet computers or cell phones. A Fiori app is always tailored to specific business process in order to enable meaningful operation on all devices. This increases the working speed and it streamlines processes. Intuitive user interface elements also enable ease of use and a consistent user experience. The Fiori interface is in stark contrast to the generic, inflexible standard SAP GUI interfaces.

Fiori-Launchpad: Access point in the S/4-World

SAP Fiori will be the leading interface technology under SAP S/4HANA. It is technically possible to work with the old SAP GUI but this would lead to massive restrictions in business processes. New processes and solutions cannot then be used. The Fiori launchpad becomes the access point into the SAP world under S/4. The user focus will accordingly shift to UI5 technology in the future. With increasing acceptance, business processes are no longer mapped in the SAP GUI but rather via the SAP gateway and a Fiori interface. Although there are now over 1,000 standard SAP Fiori applications for installation, not all of the old SAP GUI transactions are available. Therefore, developers with web development skills and extensive process knowledge are required to implement individual business processes in Fiori applications.
